Selena Emma DiPaolo
I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. Trained as a classical ballet dancer, by age 16 my ballet teacher saw my ability for teaching and choreographing. I taught Pre Ballet to Adult levels.
I was very lucky to be surrounded by all forms of dance. In 1996/1997 I went on tour and performed with Robert Henry Johnson’s Dance Company & Robert Moses.
In 1999 I moved to NYC to audition for classical ballet companies. During this time I was dealing with an ongoing ankle injury. That is when someone recommended Pilates. Not only did it help my ankle but it changed my dancing.
In 2002 I was certified with the Integrated Teacher Training Program (ITTP) led by 5 Bay Area Studio owners: Madeline Black, Debra Schubert, Leah Putnam, Joerg Chabowski, and Jean Sullivan. 2004 I moved to San Diego and worked at Synergy Systems Fitness Studio in Encinitas (Cathleen Murakami). 2005 I did Cathleen Murakami’s Mat Certification. Then in 2006 I did another equipment certification with Cathleen Murakami & Long Beach Dance Conditioning (Marie-Jose Blom-Lawrence).
In my 25 years of teaching movement I have found Pilates to be the best form of exercise, rehab, and cross training. As a teacher my focus is on form, alignment, and finding that deep core connection. Pilates can change not only how you look but how you feel, and you can have fun doing it!
